I have an in-depth knowledge of general repairs as well as exposure to new system installations while giving consideration to business-oriented perspectives. I am familiar with many facets of design, construction and implementation with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and being required to be involved in:

  • Analysis of customer satisfaction ratings and surveys
  • Implementation of programs to improve customer satisfaction ratings through proactive communication, addressing concerns promptly, and seeking feedback for improvements.
  • Ensuring that the Engineering Department's administrative, management and supervisory staff, effectively assign and review the operations of the technical staffs activities, in line with the departments outlined standard operating procedures.
  • Analysis of existing structures to create annual and projected renovations and modernization plans
  • Analysis of utilities data collected; water, natural gas and electrical, to identify and minimize wastage and deficiencies
  • Established procedures for corrective and preventive maintenance with the aim of minimizing downtime due to breakdowns and loss of equipment.
  • Review and amendment of direct employee contracts and job descriptions.

  • Conducting regular walk-throughs to identify potential issues before they became critical problems needing costly repairs.
  • Scheduling regular inspections of equipment and facilities to manage wear and tear.
  • Participating in scheduled maintenance outages as part of preventive maintenance program.
  • Monitoring priorities and liaising between maintenance team and upper management, delegating tasks to prudently determined members to attain management targets.
  • Continuously reviewing utilization of resources and assets for departmental activities to comply with industry standards and government regulations.
  • Reinforcing quality assurance practices throughout the resort whether it be project oriented, general maintenance or daily operations tasks for guests and staff facilities alike.
  • Helping to develop, coordinate and participate in training sessions for personnel on Standard Operation Procedures best practices for property maintenance and enforcing participation in exercises focused on developing key skills.
  • Creating a safe working environment for staff by enforcing strict safety standards in line with OSHA guidelines.
  • Coordinating and monitoring large-scale renovation projects from start to finish, while minimizing disruption to tenants'' daily activities. The scope of these required that I selected and assigned subcontractors based on not only cost, but quality, experience & expediency. These projects could extend up to complete building renovations where preparation and refinishing of the external envelope of buildings included, application of textured finishes such as coral render, trowel plaster, latex & acrylic renders and painting . Re-shingling of roof tops, resurfacing of pools, updating of ceilings and cabinetry to accommodate installation new fixtures, furnishings and appliances.
  • Coordinating and monitoring the Preventative Maintenance programs of guest and public spaces facilities. This would include minor carpentry, drywall, masonry, painting, staining and rendering works. Servicing and or replacement of equipment dependent on performance or lifespan respectively.

  • Reviewed technical designs and drawings prior to surveying and setting out of structural or civil works in adherence to local standards.
  • Documented daily activities and updated project schedule.
  • Oversaw quality control and health and safety matters for construction teams.
  • Conducted regular daily inspections to ensure scheduled tasks remained on time and adjust activities where possible if not, in effort to recoup lost time.


Projects included:

  • Primary setting out and supervision of of the construction of Building #8 and #9, Village buildings from foundation to completion.
  • Primary setting out and supervision of both HVAC plant rooms from foundation to completion.
  • Primary setting out and supervision of carpark and driveway construction including plumbing, drainage, electrical and other services.

  • Reviewed technical designs and drawings prior to setting out and supervision of works related construction of foundations and external envelope of manufacturing and residential structures.

This would include clearing of site

- Setting out of structure for excavation

- Backfill and compaction of site with specified subgrade and base fill materials

- Aggregate integrity compaction test

- Setting out of footings, formwork, structural steel fabrication and inspection and coordination of concrete pours.

- Scheduling pre and post concrete integrity test.

  • Conducted daily inspections to ensure project timelines were maintained.

- Mount Gay Distilleries Storage Bonds in St. Lucy, Barbados.

The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited: Sub-station Expansion

  • Supervision of civil work for and around high voltage services.
  • Construction of an 18ft by 31ft transformer base.
  • Expansion from ground floor up to the 1st floor, of a high voltage substation within the confines of the compound, adjacent to the main low speed plant which services the island.
